-The LID-

On each corner of the lid, I found small metal tacs.  On the back edge of the lid there were two tacs which retained white cotton fabric under their heads.  I have NO IDEA why they were there.  But, they had to be removed before stripping the finish.


After stripping the finish off the lid (which took TWO to THREE applications of stripper!!!) another "2" was uncovered on the back inside panel:


Lid has been refinished.  Original decal has been saved, but left un-retouched.
